Transperth the best ride to the Perth Royal Show

Forget the chair lift, carousel and the myriad of terrifying, white-knuckle offerings, Transperth is the ride not to be missed at this year’s Perth Royal Show.

At $10.40, FamilyRider tickets allow two standard (full fare) and five concession holders to travel on Transperth trains, buses and ferries from 9am weekdays (8.30am Zones 5 to 9) and all-day Saturday/Sunday and public holidays.

Travel is free for all SmartRider holders every Sunday (and for children with a valid SmartRider on weekdays), however users must tag on and off to receive the offer. Those travelling without a SmartRider will need to purchase a cash ticket.

Extra services will be running during the course of the event and, while Show week is typically the busiest on the Transperth calendar, other events across the city are expected to make it busier still, including UFC Fight Night (28 September), the Perth Wildcats v Illawarra Hawks (2 October), the Bledisloe Cup and Diwali Mela (both 4 October).

“Thousands will be using public transport to get around the city across the week, so we encourage everyone to plan their journey and leave plenty of time to travel,” a Transperth spokesperson said.

“Extra services will operate to get patrons to and from the Showgrounds each day of the Royal Show with minimal hassle, taking away any stress associated with traffic jams and finding that elusive parking space, which can cost you as much as triple or quadruple the price of a Transperth ticket.

“Bus feeder services will connect to most stations, there are thousands of car parking spaces (free on weekends and public holidays) across the train network, and all Fremantle and Airport Line services will stop at Showgrounds Station, so there are plenty of ways to get to the show that are easier than driving.”
