Ten-day community event to light up Long Park

Perth's longest linear park will be bustling with activity from today until 8 February thanks to a special community event the whole family can enjoy.

  • Long Park to come alive for Illuminate the Journey event
  • Activations running from 30 January to 8 February at Oats Street Station precinct
  • Includes BMX demonstrations, basketball workshops, food trucks, live music and a nightly light installation

Perth's longest linear park will be bustling with activity from today until 8 February thanks to a special community event the whole family can enjoy.

Long Park, stretching seven kilometres from Carlisle Station to the new Beckenham Station, has delivered six hectares of vibrant new public open space under the elevated section of the METRONET Armadale Line.

It features 14 community spaces, including playgrounds, skate parks, dog and fitness parks and youth plazas with sports courts.

The park has transformed previously underutilised areas, helping to boost community amenity and create new opportunities for urban housing investment along the corridor.

Concentrated around Long Park's Oats Street Station precinct, Illuminate the Journey is a vibrant 10-day community celebration set to bring the park to life and showcase its brand-new recreational and sporting spaces.

This free event invites locals and visitors of all ages to explore, play and connect through an exciting mix of activities. Across both weekends, this includes basketball workshops, BMX demonstrations, food trucks and live music.

Each night during the event attendees can enjoy a dazzling light installation, featuring interactive LED video cubes, shadow play, a rainbow walk and more.
