Transperth advice regarding union action

It is important to note the protected industrial action only relates to a limited number of bus drivers in three contract areas operated by Transdev – Rockingham-Mandurah, Fremantle and Joondalup. Transdev also operates CAT bus services in the CBD, Fremantle and Joondalup but those services are already free.

As this action will only occur on some buses operated by Transdev, passengers are expected to pay a fare when able.  It is Transperth policy that all passengers carry a valid ticket or tag-on with their SmartRider when they use our services.  All other bus and train services are unaffected so passengers should purchase a cash ticket or tag on as normal on these services.

Public transport is heavily subsidised by the WA Government and passengers are still expected to pay for their journey.
