Transperth boosts services for pageant

2/12/2004

Transperth has substantially increased its services to cater for the big crowds expected to attend the Christmas Pageant in Perth on Saturday, December 11.

Extra train, bus and ferry services have been scheduled to and from Perth before and after the Pageant, which is scheduled to start at 7.30pm.

The Perth CAT service will stop at 5pm because of the closure of various CBD streets for the parade.  Special arrangements have also been made for bus routes which will be affected by the street closures, which are expected to start around 4pm.

Passengers, especially those planning to catch the train at Perth Station after the Pageant, are urged to be patient as everyone tries to leave the city at the same time.

All train and bus services and routes are expected to be back to normal by 10.30pm.  Normal fares apply.

A special brochure, Your guide to getting around this festive season, details all urban public transport arrangements for the Christmas Pageant as well as the Christmas and New Year periods.

The brochure is available from bus drivers, Transperth InfoCentres (there are four in the city, at the Busport, the Wellington Street bus and train stations, and in Plaza Arcade), the Transperth information offices at the Armadale, Fremantle and Midland interchanges, by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 or from www.transperth.wa.gov.au
