Untitled - Joondalup Station

Mary Moore and Graham Pitts

Title: Untitled - Joondalup Station

Artist/s: Mary Moore, visual artist and Graham Pitts, writer

Year: 1993

Category: Tiles/ Intergrated

Site: Joondalup Station

Location Details: Joondalup Station platform

Description:

A series of 30mm tiles along the outside of the concourse walls of the upper section of the station.

Artist/s Statement:

This artwork details the history of Joondalup, the visions and challenges of those who built the new city and the railway line, the thoughts and dreams of the drivers of the trains and the staff of the station, and the hopes and aspirations of the train travellers and local residents. The tiles are interwoven with more abstract images and words dealing with concepts of time and space. Such a fusion of images and text has been enabled by the rare combination of a writer working with a visual artist in such a context.

The PTA acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises  the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this site may contain images or names of people who are deceased.
