This...is Bull Creek

Darren Hutchens and Lawrence Halden (plus eight young local street artists who contributed their own piece)

Title: This...is Bull Creek

Artist/s: Darren Hutchens and Lawrence Halden (plus eight young local street artists who contributed their own piece)

Year: 2008

Category: Urban Art Mural

Site: Bull Creek Station

Location Details: Bull Creek Station car park exit

Description:

This 60m x 3.5m mural runs alongside the exit road from the station car park. It can be viewed from the footpath at the southern end of the station.

Artist/S Statement:

Illustrating the clash between nature and urban development, the hazard banner flowing through the mural signifies caution on the road and the hazards of habitat depletion. The horizon, defined by rooftops and power lines, dominates the local native species (birds, reptiles and marsupials). A bull standing in a swamp (Bull Creek), commuter caricatures and the “Lego” man represent human impact (alien invaders symbolised by the Karel Avenue UFO) and lifestyle. The varying styles of the pieces by the local writers reflect and value the diversity of the population.

The PTA acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises  the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.
