The PTA has an extensive collection of public art which has developed and expanded with the network, from electrification of the trains in the early 1990s to the METRONET program in recent years.

Farmer Designs and Little Rhino Designs

Title: Story of Noongar Symbols

Artist/s: Peter Farmer, Miranda Farmer and Jason Hirst

Year: 2023

Site: Streich Avenue, Kelmscott

Location Detail: Artwork applied to eastern face of retaining wall running southwards along Streich Avenue towards the rail bridge over Davis Road.

Medium: Marine grade aluminium and polyurethane

Description:

The artwork concept has been designed to represent a meeting place. By using the traditional Noongar symbols of man and woman, the artwork suggests a grouping of people coming together that echoes a sense of community and diverse communities.

Through travel, connection to the surroundings is also representative of the local wildlife and waterways of the local area. The artworks have been designed to connect with locals and visitors coming to the region.

The colour theory throughout the artworks is based around the importance of the Six Noongar Seasons.
