Sacred Waters Always Flowing

Darryl Bellotti

Title: Sacred Waters Always Flowing

Artist/s: Darryl Bellotti

Year: 2025

Category: Integrated Artwork

Site: Nicholson Road Station

Location Details: Fencing around waterhole, eastern portion of car park

Artist/s Statement:

This artwork depicts the Waugal (Serpent) and waterholes found around the local region. The swirling patterns around the Waugal are the swirls of water as it flows along its body. In the artwork are the Noongar people and their pathways in and around each of the waterhole locations. The circular patterns and the radial lines represent the flow of water both above and below ground as it filters through the landscape. The hills and trees of the Darling Range are featured across the top of the design, along with the tracks of the Waitj (emu) as it travels.

The Public Transport Authority acknowledges that Noongar languages are oral in nature and one word can be spelt in multiple ways.

The PTA acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises  the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this site may contain images or names of people who are deceased.
