Onward and Outward

Mark Datodi and Steve Tepper

Title: Onward and Outward

Artist/s: Mark Datodi and Steve Tepper

Year: 2007

Category: Integrated

Site: Murdoch Station

Location Details:

Description:

The work consists of a number of aluminium components fixed to a travertine-tiled background. It runs the length of the bus bridge retaining wall.

Artist/s Statement:

Murdoch Station is a central site for commuters, linking communities and workplaces and, ultimately, home. People of all ages from surrounding suburbs come together to share this mode of transport – connecting people and places. The metal artwork represents the road infrastructure of the growing urban sprawl with the main line connecting suburbs. The stone tiles represent the physical characteristics of the site including topography and the surrounding natural vegetation, especially the natural limestone common to the area. The stone tiles signify the gridding of the land for urban development with the natural surface texture of the stone referencing the land from an aerial perspective

The PTA acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises  the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this site may contain images or names of people who are deceased.
