Artist/s: Tyrown Waigana

Year: 2025

Category: Sculpture

Site: Long Park, Oats Street Station precinct

Location Details: Puggle Playground

Medium: Cast concrete

Artist/s Statement:

This sculpture is an abstract representation of a puggle - a baby echidna - curled up in a resting pose. It captures the unique body shape of this unusual creature, along with its naturally endearing qualities. The surrounding stepping stones echo the shape of the echidna’s paws, suggesting it walked across the playground and settled in this spot. Designed to spark curiosity and wonder, the artwork invites children and adults alike to engage with the mysteries of nature through play.

The Public Transport Authority acknowledge that Noongar languages are oral in nature and that one word can be spelt in multiple ways.
