The PTA has an extensive collection of public art which has developed and expanded with the network, from electrification of the trains in the early 1990s to the METRONET program in recent years.

Location Detail: Two artworks are wall mounted above the escalators to the platforms.

Medium: ImagInk on glass, steel, aluminium

Description:

Caroline Christie-Coxon’s artworks mark the threshold where bushland meets the urban fringe at Alkimos. The diptych reflects themes of time, duality, and nature.

The polarity of the discs offer an orientational reference: the ocean which lies to the west; and the dunes to the east. The circle shapes hold universal symbolism across cultures and over millennia, suggesting cycles and seasons; with the contrasting imagery celebrating the role of process in both the minuscule and the grand.

The intention is to invoke a sense of connection to nature and a celebration of community.
