Description:

Noongar artists Peter and Miranda Farmer use their art to break down barriers and build understanding and appreciation of his language and cultural belief system. Their works are uniquely connected to the heritage and history of place.

Peter collaborated with Miranda Farmer and Jason Hirst to design these seating sculptures, Kaarl and Kiep. They are designed to encourage the community to pause and reflect on the local culture.

Kaarl (fire) and Kiep (water) are essential components of traditional culture. They nurture growth, connection and direction and connect us to the natural environment. They are beacons that bring people together, offering comfort, sustenance and security.

The PTA acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises  the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this site may contain images or names of people who are deceased.
