Journey

The Glow Studio (Jude Bunn)

Title: Journey

Artist/s: The Glow Studio (Jude Bunn)

Year: 2007

Category: Integrated

Site: Mandurah Station

Location Details: Mandurah Station Platform area left of the Fare Gates

Description:

The inaugural Mandurah Line journey to Perth is commemorated with a plaque, which incorporates an icon, on the wall inside the platform area left of the fare gates. There is a matching plaque and icon at Esplanade Station.

Artist/s Statement:

Each of these modern plaques incorporates a circular icon which was ceremoniously placed inside the plaque as part of the Mandurah Line’s official opening. The circular icons are intimate, special segments, and were added to the plaque to complete it. The visual design uses abstract imagery and descriptive text to create a story of transit, local identity and the idea of home. The imagery creates a pictorial image of suburbia, movement and the narrative of journey via the train stations.

The PTA acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises  the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this site may contain images or names of people who are deceased.
