Public Art Gallery

The PTA has an extensive collection of public art which has developed and expanded with the network, from electrification of the trains in the early 1990s to the METRONET program in recent years.

Homecoming

Location Details: Maida Vale Road, east of the multi-deck car park

Description:

The 40m-long mural is a collaboration between artist Fieldey, PTA’s Right Track Program and the City of Kalamunda, with a number of local young people working alongside the artist to brainstorm, design and create the mural.

Artist/s Statement:

Black cockatoos, magpies, eucalyptus leaves, jacaranda flowers, kangaroos and grass trees are woven together to create a story about the commuter journey coming home to the hills after working in the city all day. The mural begins with a geometric city scene, then as you move around the wall the geometric birds and animals morph into realistic animals and the landscape and flora become soft and organic, representing the transition from the built-up city to the natural surrounds of the local suburbs.
