Description:

Andrew Frazer is a multidisciplinary artist who is influenced by common shared stories that remind us of our humanity.

Central to the artwork is the Noongar place name for Bayswater, Biraliny. It means ‘the track where the merenj (food plants) is located’. The name is brought to life through Andrew’s signature typography and textured style. The separation of form references the waterways that move through the area. The lines of movement represent a study in reflections and ripples that occur when water intersects with its surrounds. The colour palette has been selected to communicate the themes of Camping Sites, Place of Water, and Conservation.

Andrew developed the patterns and design for this artwork in collaboration with local high school-aged students, and with the assistance of Noongar artist Jade Dolman.
