Daglish Turnback Improvements

The Daglish Turnback Improvement project will deliver upgrades to turnback infrastructure west of Daglish Station.

While the existing turnback facility has the track layout to enable turnback operations including tracks, switches and signalling systems, additional facilities will be introduced to support the more frequent service operations following the opening of the Ellenbrook Line in December 2024. 

The project will see the installation of a driver toilet, an illuminated driver walkway with handrails, upgraded perimeter palisade fencing, an expansion of the CCTV system, and upgrades to the stop bollard and signage.

Starting Monday, 14 April 2025 the southern Transperth car park along Railway Road will be closed to passengers for up to five months to accommodate site offices and storage of materials and equipment.

Where possible, works will be delivered during standard hours between 7am and 7pm Monday to Saturday. However, due to the location within the active rail reserve, it is necessary to undertake some of the works during the period of time at night where trains are not operating. 

Day works

Day works will predominantly take place between the existing tracks and temporary site boundary fences west of Daglish Station. Works will include the use of machinery such as excavators and trucks and may require traffic management.

Night works

All night works will follow approved noise management plans and every effort will be made to keep noise to a minimum. Where possible, works will take place during pre-planned rail closures for maintenance activities to keep passenger disruptions to a minimum.

• 2 to 6 June

Works: Priming and asphalting of driver walkway.

Impacts: Odour from priming/asphalting; noise, vibrations, dust and light spill; truck and plant movement; traffic management on local roads.

• 20 to 23 June

Works: Under boring works to complete sewer and water connections; fencing upgrades; remaining civil works for the driver walkway; priming and asphalting of driver walkway.

Impacts: Disruption to train services – replacement buses will operate on Railway Road; truck and plant movement; traffic management on local roads; noise, vibrations, dust and light spill; odour from priming/asphalting.

• 24 to 27 June

Works: Remaining civil and asphalting works; construction of footings and installation of poles for CCTV; footing preparation works for driver toilet.

Impacts: Truck and plant movement; traffic management on local roads; noise, vibrations, dust and light spill; odour from priming/asphalting.

• 30 June to 4 July

Works: Laying concrete for driver toilet; installation of driver toilet, including plumbing works; installation and commissioning of electrical connections.

Impacts: Truck and plant movement; traffic management on local roads; noise, vibrations, dust and light spill.
