Perth City Link is entering a new phase with the start of rail works to sink the Fremantle Line from William Street to Lake/King Streets.
Temporary tracks for the Fremantle Line will be laid north of the existing line so train services can continue while the new Fremantle Line tunnel is constructed.
To make room for the relocated tracks, a section of the William Street footbridge, known as the Western Concourse, will close from Wednesday, August 24 and will be removed.
The Roe Street end will be closed but the Wellington Street entry, including the stairs and escalator to the Wellington Street Bus Station, stairs and escalator to Platform 5 in Perth Station, and the public toilets will remain open.
Pedestrians can move between the CBD and Northbridge using the footpaths on the Horseshoe Bridge, the Milligan Street footbridge and the Eastern Concourse that connects the Perth Cultural Centre with Forrest Place.
The shared cycle and pedestrian path (or PSP) on Roe Street near the junction of Roe and William Streets will be diverted to enable the footbridge to be removed.
Public transport services will not be affected by this work.
