Privacy Policy

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is committed to protecting the privacy of its customers, contractors and employees.

Our Privacy Policy outlines the type of information the PTA collects and how that information is used, stored and protected.

Privacy statement

The Public Transport Authority has created this Privacy Statement to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy.

This statement may change periodically, so please check back from time to time. The last update to the Privacy Statement is stated on this page.

In certain areas of the website, we may ask you to provide User Information by registering for the website or participating in surveys.

When you use the PTA website, you consent to the PTA's use of any information provided by you to the PTA such as your company name, current email address and phone number for the purposes outlined below.

Information collected

When you look at this website, our web server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

  • Your server address
  • Your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc)
  • The date and time of your visit to the site
  • The pages you accessed and documents downloaded
  • The previous site you have visited
  • The type of browser you are using.

This information about your use is only analysed on a bulk basis for broad demographic content. Individual use is not analysed.

If you use the website to complete and submit an online application form, we will only collect the information contained in that application form. If you log out of the website or cancel the application prior to submitting the form, the information you entered will be automatically deleted.

Access to information collected

You can request access to the information we have collected from you if you have any concerns about the accuracy or extent of that information.

Use of information collected

We will only record your email address if you send us a message or complete and submit an online form. Your email address will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and it will not be added to a mailing list or used for any other purpose without your consent.

We will not use or disclose information collected about you, including information collected using cookies, other than for a purpose made known to you, a purpose you would reasonably expect, a purpose required, authorised or permitted by under any law, or a purpose otherwise authorised by you.

If you tell us you do not wish to have your personal information used for a particular purpose, we will respect your wishes.

Use of cookies

The PTA website uses "cookies" to help you personalise your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalise PTA website pages, or register with the PTA website or services, a cookie helps the website to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as your name, email address and so on. When you return to the same PTA website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the features that you customised.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer.

Links from and to this website

This website includes links to other websites operated by government bodies, non-government organisations and individuals.

The PTA does not control the content or the information collected on these websites. These websites are not subject to this Privacy Statement. The PTA is not responsible for the content, policies or practices of such websites. The PTA encourages you to review the privacy policies on other websites before you disclose any information to these other parties.

As a general principle, the West Australian Government encourages links to its websites, however it reserves the right to bar links in the event that they are provided in a manner which is incompatible with the workings of a democratic, diverse and tolerant community or if it considers, in its absolute discretion, that any link is inappropriate.

All personal information is encrypted during transmission and stored on a secure server.
