Emergency management

We oversee the coordination and ongoing improvement of emergency management and safety across our system

Emergency management

The State Emergency Management Plans (WestPlans) enable the Western Australian Government to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from all different types of emergencies in the State.

In December 2016, the State Emergency Management Committee (SEMC) approved a project to review all 27 Hazard Management Agency (HMA) Westplans to determine which would be amalgamated and which would remain as is. The new amalgamated Westplans would be renamed State Hazard Plans.

Stemming from this SEMC resolution, the PTA’s Rail Crash Westplan has undergone a full content review and amalgamation to create the State Hazard Plan – Crash Emergency. This new plan combines the emergency management arrangements from Westplan Air Crash, Westplan Brookfield Rail Crash Emergencies, Westplan Rail Crash PTA and Westplan Road Crash. This plan aligns with the requirements as stipulated in the Emergency Management Act 2005 and Emergency Management Regulations 2006.
