Through decisive leadership, the State Government – in association with the Federal Government and City of Perth – is turning one of Perth’s oldest and most widely-held dreams into reality.
The Perth City Link, formerly known as the Northbridge Link, will connect Perth and Northbridge for the first time in 100 years and create a new mix of commercial, retail and public spaces.
The catalyst to link Northbridge and the CBD are the Public Transport Authority’s $609 million works to:
- Sink the Fremantle Line between William Street and Lake Street/King Streets to allow for connections between Roe and Wellington Streets.
- Upgrade Perth Station and ensure platform capacity for future demand and special events.
- Improve connections between Perth Station and Perth Underground Station through a purpose built pedestrian underpass.
- Build a new underground Wellington Street Bus Station – creating Australia’s first dynamic bus bay allocation system.
Passengers come first. To minimise disruption and maintain day-to-day public transport services the work will be delivered in stages.
