Forward works will start in Forrestfield Station Community Zone - alongside a section of Dundas Road - from mid-late November 2015.

Forward works in Forrestfield Station Community Zone

The main Contractor responsible for the design and construction of the Forrestfield-Airport Link will be appointed in mid-2016. However, before the Contractor can start work on the site, the Public Transport Authority (PTA) needs to ensure that the site is ready. In the Forrestfield Station Community Zone, this involves necessary vegetation clearing and relocating native flora and fauna, and the subsequent relocation of three major services. This is all to allow for the future Forrestfield Station and tunnel portal construction and infrastructure.

Within the next week, on behalf of the PTA, a contractor will begin the forward works to clear the vegetation and relocate native flora and fauna in the area shown on the map to the left (along a section of Dundas Road). This will last for approximately two weeks, although there might be intermittent site activity for around six weeks.

During the works, fencing will be erected around the site to ensure the safety of residents and businesses closest to the works. On Dundas Road, two-way traffic will be reduced to one lane for three days (approximately 7am - 5pm Monday - Friday; 7.30am - 1pm Saturday) during the clearing works which may lead to some traffic congestion. The usual 70kmh speed limit will also be reduced to 60kmh during these hours. However, there will be a traffic management plan – approved by the Shire of Kalamunda – in place and we will implement control measures to minimise noise and dust impact. Contractor vehicles will also use Dundas Road to access the site.

We expect the lane reduction to start on Monday 30 November. If you think that the traffic management arrangements may impact you directly, please contact the team via email and we will be able to give you more detailed information nearer the time.
