Delivery and Governance

The main works for the project are being delivered through a single-package, lump sum Design and Construct Contract, awarded to Salini Impregilo-NRW Joint Venture (SI-NRW) in April 2016.

The main works contract, carried out by SI-NRW, covered the design and construction of all major work elements, including the tunnel and civil infrastructure, track, stations and rail systems (such as signalling, communications and power). SI-NRW is also responsible for some maintenance works for the first 10 years of operations.

In addition to the main contract, the PTA has also led a small number of forward works contracts. These included:

  • relocation of significant identified utility services,
  • provision of a construction power connection near the High Wycombe portal location, and
  • provision of a fibre optic connection along the existing Midland Line.

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is responsible for managing the new rail line in operations, via the relevant business units such as Network and Infrastructure, and Transperth Train Operations.
