There has been a hive of activity across the entire project footprint this month with site investigations conducted, final designs being progressed and PTA’s forward works continuing as planned.

The project team has been particularly active preparing for the site establishment works at Forrestfield scheduled to begin next month. PTA forward works in Forrestfield are now complete and the Development Application for site establishment works was lodged with the Western Australian Planning Commission after community consultation and discussion with officers from the Shire of Kalamunda.

Forrestfield forward works now complete

Over the last nine months, forward works in the Forrestfield Station Community Zone have been undertaken by PTA. These works have included clearing the area and relocating three major services (gas, telecommunication and power) to make way for the future Forrestfield Station and tunnel dive structure. View the dedicated fact sheet to find out more about these works.

Making our stations accessible for all

The first of a series of Access and Inclusion Workshops was held last week with groups representing people with disability. The workshops are aimed at providing the Forrestfield-Airport Link project team with valuable feedback on the early designs of the project’s train stations to ensure they are accessible to all ages and abilities.

Participants were from the Disability Services Commission, VisAbility, People with Disabilities WA and Blind Citizens WA. The group discussed some of the issues that people with a disability face at transport facilities, and provided the design team with valuable insight on design elements to consider.

The group reviewed the draft designs for the Forrestfield and Airport Central Stations. A second workshop to review the final designs will be held early next year. The group will also review the draft design for the Belmont Station in early 2017. Finally, participants will be invited to tour each station before the line becomes operational in 2020.

Reminder to register your interest to work on the Forrestfield-Airport Link

SI-NRW is now looking to fill a number of key procurement packages for works starting this year.

Following the Aboriginal Business Briefing held in June, the Noongar Business Working Group has continued to meet and discuss how these procurement opportunities could be maximised for Aboriginal businesses. An Aboriginal Engagement Strategy has been developed for the project to ensure there are real, on the ground opportunities for Aboriginal participation on the Forrestfield-Airport Link project and SI-NRW is committed to directly engaging with the Aboriginal Business Community.

The jobs portal link is now live on the SI-NRW website and provides further information about the prequalification and tendering process, as well as early works packages available through the project. Click here to lodge your Supplier Prequalification Application.
