Major contract awarded

The Forrestfield-Airport Link project has hit a major milestone – awarding the design and construction contract to Salini Impregilo - NRW Joint Venture (SINRW).

Negotiations between the Public Transport Authority and SINRW began in February, with the contract awarded April 28, 2016.

The $1.176b contract will see SINRW build 8km of rail tunnels and three stations connecting Perth to the Eastern foothills, as well as maintaining the infrastructure for a ten year period, once the project is complete in 2020.

Those interested in the project should also be aware that two of the stations have been renamed Belmont (formerly Airport West) and Airport Central (formerly Consolidated Airport) to more accurately reflect their purpose and locations.

Community and stakeholder materials will be updated over the coming months to reflect this change.
