With construction of the METRONET Forrestfield-Airport Link now in its final stages, attention has turned to building the bus network that will transport commuters to and from the new High Wycombe and Redcliffe stations.

  • Community consultation to commence on enhanced bus network to support the new Airport Line
  • More than 20 suburbs included in routes to new Redcliffe and High Wycombe stations
  • Consultation period closes at 4pm on November 19
  • McGowan Government has 15 METRONET projects planned, completed, underway or in procurement

The opening of the Airport Line will create significant changes to bus services through Perth's eastern suburbs, with several new routes added and some existing ones changed to accommodate the new stations.

The enhanced bus network will add more than 1.7 million annual service kilometres and 26 new buses, connecting the eastern suburbs to the Airport Line and the broader Transperth network.

The community has now been invited to provide feedback.

Changes have also been made to the bus network servicing Midland Station, with four potential new routes included in the community consultation.

School specials will be reviewed once the feeder bus network is finalised, and updated timetables for all services will be available next year.

Comments attributed to Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

"When the Airport Line opens in 2022, residents of Perth's eastern suburbs will be spoilt for choice when it comes to their transport options.

"Tens of thousands of commuters are expected to use the Airport Line every day, so linking train services with an enhanced feeder bus network is one way we can make the commute as easy as possible for our passengers.

"Residents across the eastern suburbs will benefit from an enhanced bus network which is why we're asking the community for feedback - we want to hear what you think about the proposed changes."
