Creating art with spray paint is not like a camera where you point and shoot and it’s not like a paintbrush where you dab and brush.
There is a knack to it and with some clever tricks and tips, one day you can create urban art masterpieces like the Carousel at Glendalough Station, or any of the public art featured on Streets of Perth.
And importantly there is a difference between urban art and graffiti.
If you’re keen to try your hand and learn a few tricks, we have urban artist Shime down at the Westfield YouthFest in Maddington this Saturday from 1pm to 5pm, on behalf of Right Track.
Shime will show young people some aerosol techniques on our giant Right Track puzzle and talk about PTA’s urban art program.
It’s all part of National Youth Week, an annual celebration of youth in Australia.
The Westfield YouthFest will also have lots of other activities at YouthFest including skate, scooter and BMX competitions, live bands and DJ, giant inflatables and food and drinks.
See you there!
