Get to know your Transit Officers

Get to know your Transit Officers

Thursday, 21 January 2016

You’re all probably familiar with what a Transit Officer (TO) looks like and perhaps you already know a bit about the job that they do – such as maintaining a safe and secure environment for passengers, conducting ticket inspections and providing information and assistance about Transperth train, bus and ferry services. You may also be aware that Transit Officers have similar legal authority and powers as police officers when detaining offenders on Public Transport Authority (PTA) property.

However, sometimes a young person’s only interaction with Transit Officers is when something has gone wrong. You may get off on the wrong foot or have a negative perception of each other. We’ve interviewed some of the Transit Officers that you may have seen out on the system so that you can get to know them a bit better.

Read more about Alan, Rachelle, Clinton and David and feel free to chat to them and build up positive relationships next time you see them out and about on trains across Perth’s metropolitan area. They’d be more than happy to chat about their interests and hear about yours too!

Plus – watch this space for more Transit Officer profiles coming soon!
