Transperth Education recently attended the Abilities Careers Expo held at Burswood Entertainment Complex. The theme of the expo was ‘Pathways to the future- celebrating success’.

Transperth Education has been involved in and attended the Abilities Careers Expo since 2009. This year the event emphasis was on the provision of young adults of WA, whom deal with physical, sensory, intellectual and/or psychiatric disabilities, with information and advice that will assist them prepare for life beyond school.

Transperth Education enjoyed the opportunity to engage with over 150 students, parents and educators, discussing all things Transperth including; best Transperth ticketing options whilst at school and beyond, safe travel on Transperth services and the ‘Get on Board’ schools program for Education Support Centres.

If you are a teacher of an education support class and you or students missed the event but would like to find out more about accessing and using Transperth, the education team can visit your school. We deliver a tailored ‘Get on Board’ program to empower students with disability with the knowledge and skills to take safe, confident journeys on Transperth. “Students and staff benefited greatly from this experiential learning programme. All aspects of using the Transperth bus and train systems were clearly explained at an appropriate, pace and level to meet the needs of all our students. It was a fun day, enjoyed by all. Thankyou!”

Bookings are now open for 2015. So why not kick start your Community Access program off in the new year, and get your students on board and on their way to become life-long users of Transperth.
