Between mid-2010 and late 2011, the Public Transport Authority undertook $25 million of work ahead of the Perth City Link Rail Alliance commencing the main rail work to sink the Fremantle Line.

Completing the eight packages ensured essential services were relocated from the main works area and that Perth Train Station can continue running services throughout the project.

Nov 2011

Upgrade lighting and cable containment roof at Perth Train Station.

Jul 2011 

Construct cable containment area east of Barrack Street Bridge. Works included signalling and electrical work in Perth yard.

Aug 2011

Upgrade and extend Platform 6/7 at Perth Train Station.  This work included demolishing the platform to remove services, installing new footings, pouring a new concrete platform floor and retiling, and installing lighting and services in the roof under the Eastern Concourse.

Jul 2011

Relocate signals around Perth Station to ensure train operations can continue with minimal disruption during the sinking of the Fremantle Line.

Sept 2011 Install new communications cables and remove redundant communications cables.

May 2011

Relocate 25kV overhead wires and complete other overhead traction work.

Apr 2011

Demolish the spiral ramp at the western end of the Wellington Street Bus Station.
