Construction overview

In early 2016, the State Government awarded the major contract for the METRONET Forrestfield-Airport Link to Salini Impregilo – NRW Joint Venture (SI-NRW). The contract requires SI-NRW to design and build 8km of twin-bored rail tunnels and three new train stations, as well as maintain the infrastructure of some assets for a 10-year period.

The construction phase started late-2016 with site establishment at High Wycombe. A further three construction sites were established at Perth Airport, Redcliffe and Bayswater in 2017, as well as a number of smaller sites (mainly within road reserve) for cross passages and emergency egress shafts.
