Mitchell Freeway north bound
A section of the rail safety barrier alongside the northbound lanes of the Mitchell Freeway between the Graham Farmer Freeway off-ramp and Leederville Station is being upgraded. The work will take six weeks, beginning on Monday, June 20.
The freeway northbound past the area will have a series of inside emergency lane and freeway fast lane closures while the work takes place. The work times will be 9am to 2pm and then 8pm to 7am Monday to Sunday. Night and weekend works will depend on the stage of the job.
The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 60kmh for the duration of the works.
Apart from the school holidays (July10 - 24) all lanes except the inside emergency stopping lane will be open for the afternoon peak freeway traffic, but the speed reduction to 60kmh will remain in place. During the school holidays the fast lane will be permanently closed.
The existing lip channel barrier between the freeway and the railway line will be replaced with a solid concrete barrier. The upgrade is similar to those done over the past two years. Some work on the track and rail system will be done at the same time.
