Car Park Expansion Project

In 2008 the State Government committed $50 million to add up to a further 3000 parking bays on the Joondalup and Mandurah lines.

The new bays are being created by either redesigning and extending existing car parks or adding new car park areas on nearby land.  The new parking bays will be a mix of pay’n’display and free bays, depending on demand and on the practicality of providing security.

On the two lines, extra bays have already been constructed at:

  • Edgewater – 160 bays
  • Greenwood Stage 1 – 120 bays and Greenwood Stage 2 – 176 bays
  • Whitfords – 210 bays
  • Murdoch – 160 bays
  • Clarkson -  260 bays
  • Cockburn Central – 210 bays (plus an additional 144 daytime parking bays on leased land)
  • Rockingham – 75 bays
  • Warnbro – 90 bays
  • Mandurah – 280 bays

Continuing over the next three years, planning and approvals will be sought for increases at:

  • Greenwood (Stage 3)
  • Stirling
  • Currambine
  • Cockburn Central (Stage 2)
  • Kwinana
  • Rockingham (Stage 2)
