Work will start in October to upgrade the protective screens on road bridges over the Mitchell Freeway and the railway. 

In the first stage, bridge screens on Loftus Street, Hutton Street, Cedric Street,  Karrinyup Road and Erindale Road will be replaced.

The screen replacement is part of an ongoing public safety improvement program.

Work will be done during the day and at night Monday to Friday.  Night works between midnight and 4.30am will require single lane closures on the bridge and on the Mitchell Freeway below the bridge.  Traffic management will be in place.

These first five bridges will be completed early-2012.
