Graduate Program

The PTA is a dynamic, growing organisation dedicated to the delivery of rail, bus and ferry services in the Perth metropolitan area, and road coach, bus and rail services in regional Western Australia.

The PTA is also responsible for the design and construction of infrastructure to deliver public transport services, that is, rail infrastructure, rollingstock and stations. We plan and implement extensions to the passenger railway system such as the southern route to Mandurah. These activities have provided excellent opportunities for engineering, architecture and urban planning graduates.

There are also many support areas at the PTA such as Finance, Contracts, Compliance, Safety and Strategy, Corporate Communications, People and Organisational Development and IT where graduates with other disciplines are needed.

Each year the PTA recruits a number of young talented professionals in their final year of study for our two-year graduate program.  The program, which has been running for seven years, gives graduates access to various areas of our business through a series of rotations (usually six months each).

If you become a PTA graduate, you will commence work in January, starting with a formal induction on your first day where you will meet your manager and other graduates on the program. You will also meet the graduate coordinator who is dedicated to supporting you and organising your program activities.

Starting salary is around $47,000 (plus superannuation) for a 37.5 hour week.  Regular reviews for advancement are available, and start and finish times are flexible so you are not locked in to a “9 to 5” job.
